The General Manager - Western NY role is based in Rochester, NY and reports to the Sr.
Vice President and General Manager, Northeast Materials.
The General Manager will be responsible for providing leadership in safety, operations and sales to the Heidelberg Materials business in Western NY.
The General Manager will work with the General Manager - Central NY and the Sr.
VP GM, Northeast Materials to execute the Company's strategic plan to promote growth of revenue, profitability, personnel and operational footprint.
The General Manager will oversee the operations to ensure safe production, efficiency, quality, service, and cost-effective management of resources.
The position of General Manager is a developmental role.
Candidates are expected to develop their management skills and be willing to relocate to different parts of the North America (NAM) organization to fulfill future organizational needs.
What you'll get to do Work to enact the strategic plan to promote safety, revenue, profitability, and growth as an organization.
Oversee operations to insure production efficiency, quality, service, and cost-effective management of resources.
Plan, develop, and implement strategies for generating resources and/or revenues for the supported businesses.
Identify acquisition and merger opportunities and provide project management of internal and external resources to grow our organization's footprint.
Implement and help to improve company operational procedures, policies, and standards.
Review activity reports and financial statements to determine progress and status in attaining objectives and revise objectives and plans in accordance with current conditions.
Evaluate performance of management staff for compliance with established policies and objectives.
Coach and challenge staff to develop the bench strength of future organizational leaders.
Participate in mentoring of new management employees.
Represent the company at state level legislative sessions, committee meetings, and at formal functions.
Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations/permits and Group guidelines in area of responsibility.
Essential Experience and Skills Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or relevant discipline At least 10-15 years of construction industry experience At least 5 years of P&L accountability Extensive knowledge of the Aggregates, Ready Mix, and Asphalt business, customers, competitors, products, and manufacturing processes Manufacturing and commercial experience Demonstrated leadership skills Strong project management skills Good financial acumen Experience with digitalization and sustainability practices within the construction materials industry Strong track record of accomplishments within the areas of safety & health, employee development, change management, and team leadership Proficient with Microsoft Office Preferred Experience and Skills MBA or additional post graduate education, training, or certifications Well networked within the industry including trade associations Multi-site experience Work EnvironmentRole operates primarily a professional office environment but requires conducting business at manufacturing locations and job sites where the conditions include moving mechanical equipment, inclement weather, heat, humidity, and elevated noise levels.
